Workers from the clothing manufacturing unit in Brandix’s special economic zone in Atchyutapuram near here, who fell ill on August 2 night because of what was suspected as a mysterious gas leak, was stable because they were treated in various hospitals.
With the state government not yet issued a statement about the incident, the opposition parties condemned the ex’s alleged failure to prevent such accidents.
According to the latest calculation, around 95 workers fell ill from nausea and vomiting after they inhaled spicy gas that filled the air in the manufacturing unit on Tuesday night.
They underwent treatment at hospitals in Anakapalli, Atchyutapuram and Visakhapatnam.
It was the second incident in two months after one on June 3 in the same place where more than 300 female workers fainted after complaining of views, nausea and vomiting.
The state government has not yet announced a report submitted by a team of experts from the Indian Chemical Technology Institute in Hyderabad in the 3 June gas leak.
The official committee report, led by the Joint Collector of the AnakaPalli District, was also not revealed. On June 3, it is suspected that ammonia gas leaked from the porus laboratory unit nearby.
A team of experts from the Indian Chemical Technology Institute in Hyderabad visited the laboratory and conducted a test to determine the causes of leakage while the AP Pollution Control Board ordered the closing of the Lab.
The porus laboratory was closed for several days after the accident but immediately continued the activity. Furthermore, APPCB and the government did not reveal the cause of the incident.
