WhatsApp certainly does not pioneer group chat, but it plays a role in making it an indispensable part of our lives. Meta’s services have existed for more than a decade now, and group chat has been a WhatsApp feature since 2011. However, group administrators do not have much control over the chat itself. To fix it well, we learn WhatsApp is beta testing strong control, so that the administrator can delete messages sent by other members.
Currently the WhatsApp group administrator can only make members and control who joins, who can send messages, and how messages disappear configured. Tools to moderate activities in chat are very limited, and now it is not possible to delete messages. Interestingly, the company is testing the right capabilities.
Wabaainfo reports that the build that will come from the message application can let the admin group delete messages sent by participants, just tapping it for a long time and selecting the ‘Delete to everyone’ option. The chat will save a placeholder for deleted messages that mention the name of the administrator who deleted it. This will explain to all participants that it is an action taken by the administrator and not the original sender.
WhatsApp does not introduce new or new features here. This is only pursuing rich rich services such as telegrams and disputes. This feature is not even entirely new on WhatsApp itself. We saw it for the first time in December, and again in May as long as what looked like internal testing. Now it is part of the public beta channel.
The report shows that the launch is very slow in the beta channel, and it can be long before the majority of WhatsApp users get this feature. If you register for WhatsApp Beta, you can see this feature appear in the coming weeks. Until then, you have to let members go with warnings or just show the door to keep your group chat polite.
