The Cabinet Chairman of Tripura Minister Manik Saha has cleaned the proposal for a 5 percent increase in unfortunate allowances for state government employees and retirees who apply from July 1, said Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury. The decision came ahead of the Election of the Assembly in the State of Northeastern which was due in March next year.
“The ministerial board has approved the proposal to give DA 5 percent to its employees despite resource constraints. The government must bear an additional annual burden of 523.80 Crore Hospital,” he told reporters on Tuesday night. A total of 1,88,494 people, including 1,04,683 regular employees and 80,855 retirees, will benefit.
With this decision, DA from state government employees has increased from three percent of their basic salary to eight percent. But the Central Government Employees receive 34 percent of the basic salary as DA and the gap between central and state government employees remain at 26 percent. The Tripura Government Employee Federation (TGEF) welcomed the decision.
“We welcome the government’s decision to climb DA by 5 percent but the gap with central government employees is still too high. We hope that the state government will reduce it,” Secretary General TGEF Samar Roy told PTI. Chowdhury also said that 200 engineers would be recruited at the Department of Public Works through the Tripura Public Service Commission.
Engineering students who fainted from civilian disciplines, mechanics and electricity will meet the requirements, he said. Overall 100 nurse staff, 22 pharmacists and 39 laboratory assistants will also be recruited at the Ministry of Health Immediately, the Minister added.
